Katrina Shaw is a Registered Psychologist with experience working with adults and youth from diverse backgrounds, presenting with various concerns including, anxiety, depression, suicide ideation, self-esteem, eating disorders, trauma, grief/loss, interpersonal concerns, career concerns, sexuality, and supporting a loved one with mental illness.   She uses recovery method approaches to improving everyday life.  Most recently she was a full time consultant with a federal government NGO.

 

As well, Katrina has worked predominantly with individuals who have lost someone to suicide, and has special interest in death, loss, and life transition. Katrina’s focus in therapy is to empower clients to reconnect with their hearts, reclaim their power, and reinvent themselves in the face of these challenging experiences. Katrina seeks to gain a deep understanding of what is important to you and what your needs are. She will work collaboratively with you to create safety and offer guidance throughout the various stages of your healing journey.

 

Katrina has experience with clients requiring changes to their lives whether individual, couple or marital counselling.

 

Katrina earned a Bachelor Degree with Distinction in Psychology from the University of Lethbridge and a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from McGill University. She has training in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) for individuals and couples, and Constructivist/Narrative therapies. She also has specialized training in meditation, reiki, and trauma-sensitive yoga.
